Stem Toys: A great stocking stuffer for toddlers, preschoolers, and older
Is anyone else feeling like Christmas is basically tomorrow? This feeling probably happens every year for me, but it’s funny how each year it feels brand new. It’s excitement and anticipation for something you love. I love Christmas and all the traditions that surround it. I love giving gifts, and let’s be honest, I love receiving them too. Having kids and getting to be apart of their joy throughout the season is something I will never take for granted.
If you’ve been here long enough, you know that stockings tend to be a big thing in our family. It’s in my genes, thanks Nana. My mom always did the most fun stockings each year. If you asked any of my sisters, they would tell you that was their favorite part. She just packed them full of wonderful, sweet little gifts and to this day we all look forward to Nana’s stockings. I have proudly carried on her legacy and I absolutely love putting together stockings for the boys each year.
One thing I try to focus on is toys that ignite curiosity. STEM toys specifically are the best for this. Some people would call these open-ended toys. Educational Insights carries a lot of these toys and I want to share one in particular that is such a perfect stocking stuffer for toddlers and preschoolers.
You all know for years I have shared about the cute binoculars Crew and Beck always play with. We have a couple sets for when they are really in their exploring mode. This year, I’m getting Crew and Beck the Educational Insights GeoSafari Jr My First Microscope. I’m really excited about it. It’s fun finding something that you know will be played with a lot, and if I’m being honest, I think the older boys will have fun with it too.
As a homeschooling mom, I love having toys like the GeoSafari Jr My First Microscope in the classroom. When I’m teaching the older boys, it’s great to have toys in the room that the little boys can play with that are engaging and captivating while also educational. I like that they can play quietly and explore while also hearing all that I am teaching the older boys and take it in their little ears at the same time. Sometimes that passive learning is the best kind of learning.
I also want to point out that this is a REAL microscope. It’s a fully functional microscope that has a range of magnification 2.5x-8x with your preschooler in mind. They can carry it around outside and inside and explore to their little hearts content. I can already picture Crew and Beck roaming around outside putting every tiny little thing under the lens to get a better look. These are things you just can’t replicate in the classroom. Exploring and using your imagination can’t be forced.
The GeoSafari Jr My First Microscope can be a gift or even a stocking stuffer. It has such a great price point (under $20) so I feel great having it be a part of the boys stockings this year. You can find it in Walmart in the STEM toy section.
This time of year is nothing short of wonderful. I’m thankful I get to share with you all some of the things we love in our home, how we prep for the Christmas season, and some fun gifts along the way. And don’t forget to grab the GeoSafari Jr My First Microscope that I shared today- it’s just a wonderful stocking stuffer for toddlers and preschoolers! Merry almost Christmas!
