Our Modern Farmhouse Dining Table and the value of family time

Let me tell you right off the bat, I have been wanting a new dining room table in our main eating area for a long time now. By long I mean years. I’ve looked a lot, but honestly there aren’t a ton of options for what I was envisioning. We wanted a space that would grow with our family, but also that we could invite other families into and have room to gather. I was searching for a modern farmhouse dining table that seated at minimum 14. I think we all know that’s not the most common size on the market, haha. Tim also had specific wishes. It’s more than just a dining table for me. Much more than that. It’s about what I was envisioning for our family. It’s about what we value and how we want those values to play out throughout our days. I wanted something that would bring us together. And not only that- something that we could invite others into that space with us. For them to be a part and to feel valued in our home and family.

Tim and I believe wholeheartedly in putting intentionality into family time. This can look different for everyone, but at the core it’s about finding those things that bring your family closer together. For us in particular that includes food and fun. My boys all love to play games, and they all love to eat. And I don’t foresee either of those things changing anytime soon, especially the food one. Having a place in our home where everyone can comfortably gather, and everyone is included, is a great starting point.

I would like to point out that in all my “modern farmhouse dining table” google searching, I should’ve realized way sooner that asking my community on Instagram for help would have been far more useful.
