If pizza isn’t in your weekly rotation of meals, you probably haven’t tried our homemade pizza dough! But once you do, you’ll be using it weekly and your family will be asking for more.
The combo of a quick-rising/easy to roll out dough along with the right seasonings inside the dough itself make for a drool worthy recipe. And the fact that it comes together in just 5 minutes? Icing on the cake. Or should I say toppings on the pizza!
Once you try this recipe, feel free to test it out with different seasonings and make it your own! Turn it into pizza, flatbread, breadsticks or even wrap up the leftovers and freeze for next time (that is if you ever have leftovers).
Tips** I always double the recipe for our family of 7. For the dough to rise quickly, place in bowl and cover tightly with cellophane.
ENJOY! And let me know what you think.

Homemade Pizza Dough
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups All-purpose Flour
- 1 tbsp Active Dry Yeast
- 1/2 tsp Kosher salt
- 1 package Ranch Seasoning/Ranch Dip (may also use your own favorite seasoning) or 3 tbsp
- 2 tbsp Garlic, minced
- 1 cup Water, warm not hot
- 2 tbsp EVOO
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl or kitchenaid mixer fitted with the dough hook, combine 1 ¼ cups flour, yeast, salt, ranch seasoning, and garlic. Mix to combine. Then add warm water and olive oil.
- Mix on low speed for 30 seconds, scraping down the sides of the bowl. Beat on high for 3 minutes.
- Add in the remaining 1 ¼ cups flour. Continue to mix on medium speed until the dough comes together and separates from the side of the bowl. Add in a bit more flour if needed.
- Turn dough out on a floured surface and knead a few times until the dough is smooth and elastic. Place in a well oiled bowl and let rise for at least 10 minutes (a couple hours is totally fine too).
- Turn out parts of the dough onto a pizza stone, pan or parchment paper and shape into pizza, pushing out from the middle with your hands or a roller until you have a nice thin crust. Make any size you want! You may put a little EVOO or cornmeal under your crust too if you wish.
- Cook pizzas at 500 degrees for about 10 minutes or until done!

You bake the crust and then put toppings on and bake again?
Sarah
Nancy BrookHi Nancy! We don’t par-bake the crust! Just roll it out, put all the toppings on, and bake!

How long can I keep the left over dough in the refrigerator?
Sarah
JpThat’s a good question- I never save leftover dough since it has yeast, it’s best to cook it right away!

Hi! Can this be done in the bread machine with the same ingredients?
Sarah
jenniferjc86@gmail.com RobertsonI haven’t- I don’t have a bread machine!
Rachel Burgess
Can you freeze the dough, or would you recommend cooking the dough for pizza crusts? Would like to make some pizza dough crusts my sister in law can just pull out of the freezer, top however they want, and cook for her kiddos.
Sarah
Rachel BurgessI have never frozen it, I probably wouldn’t recommend that. But I like that idea of cooking the doughs then freezing them, that seems like it would work!
Tracey Brewer
Hi, I’m having trouble with using yeast in a lot of different recipes I try. But in this recipe you just put the yeast in with all the other ingredients? I don’t have to activate the yeast first? I just want to make sure I’m doing it right. I want to have a fun pizza night for my family!
Thank you
Tracey
Sarah
Tracey BrewerYes that is correct! You don’t do the typical ‘yeast in warm water with sugar for 5 minutes’ thing that most yeast recipes have. Just put it right in with the dough!
