Lucy’s First Birthday Party: A simple and unique ‘One Sweet Peach’ theme
Lucy’s first birthday party was a major success! Family and friends that came to celebrate her first year of life made it the most special. And on top of that- I had a lot of fun throwing my first ever little girl’s birthday party. Our theme was ‘One Sweet Peach’, which was perfect since (as a lot of you know) our boys wanted her middle name to be Peach and the nickname has continued after her birth. So it was the perfect fit for this party!
I want to share all the details in case any of these ideas are helpful for a party you are throwing in the future. Even better- copy them all if you have a little girl turning one soon! It was very do-able which is my go to for anything in this season of my life.
Decor
I got most all my decor on Amazon, and it turned out so cute! The party pack had a lot of things in it like the table cloth, those cute peach shaped plates, and more. Then I added in a few other things and I loved how it all came together. The iridescent backdrop would be so cute for ANY age girls party for a photo backdrop (lots of colors available).

FOOD
We were feeding a big crowd for this party, which was so fun! I made Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo for the main dish with the chicken on the side so everyone could put however much they wanted on top. For sides we had salad, rolls (my recipe for rolls here!), and fruit. Lucy in particular loved the meal so that made it even better.
Nana made a super fun and unique drink that was a hit at the party. She found this recipe online and then tweaked it to make a fun mocktail after doing some testing at home to perfect it. She blended lemonade concentrate, peach nectar, sugar, and frozen peaches to make a compote. Less than 1/4 of the cup was filled with the blended mixture, and then it was topped off with ginger ale and sparkling water. Each cup had a peach slice and raspberry to garnish. It was honestly so fancy and SO flavorful. Everyone raved about it.
For Lucy’s cake, my sister Rachel made the CUTEST little peach smash cake for her, and beautiful sheet cakes for everyone else to enjoy. The recipe was from Cake by Courtney, and it was so delicious. As you can see- she is amazing at piping, and she even made a peach compote that everyone could top their slice with. Caitlin made that beautiful cake topper too; I have such talented women in my life!
Game/Activity
I wanted to do a simple game that everyone could participate in if they wanted to. Micah suggested this one and Caitlin even did it for one of her kids. It was so fun for everyone and trickier than you think. I put together a poster board with a 13 photos from Newborn-1 year of Lucy’s life. Everyone got to guess which photo went with each month. We had a lot of fun with it and it’s also a great way to put some photos up from your baby’s first year of life, while also having it double as a fun game.
Party Favors
It wouldn’t be a party from my family now-a-days if we didn’t do some freeze dried candy, haha! These favors were the cutest. We put 2 freeze dried peach rings in each mini baggie, with the cute little thank you sticker I linked above. Kids and adults alike loved them, and it was simple and fun for me and the boys to prep together. Our freeze dryer is from Harvest Right (we have the Medium Home Pro Freeze Dryer). We are loving it and I cannot wait to try all the fresh fruits when summer comes.
The day of Lucy’s first birthday party was pretty emotional for me (if you follow along on Instagram, you are aware of that). This was such a wonderful way to cap a beautiful year. I know that most people say the first birthday party is mainly for the parents, and I can see that. That first year of your child’s life is FULL. It’s full of so many firsts, full of joy, a little less full of sleep, but the fullest of LOVE. And there’s nothing better than celebrating ALL of that with the people you love the most. I loved getting to celebrate her with this party and I hope it’s a joy for you to read about as well.
